The luxury car maker Rolls-Royce has announced it intends to create more than 100 new jobs right here in Chichester.
This excellent news comes hot on the heels of record sales over the last three years, considerable expansion of the manufacturing plant and the launch of the company’s new model, the Wraith.
Many of the jobs will be based at the company’s headquarters in Westhampnett (just outside Chichester) with around half being in marketing, sales, after-sales and public relation.
The rest of the positions will be based in engineering and manufacturing and are directly linked to the production of the new Wraith, which is currently in pre-production.
New jobs have also been created in Rolls-Royce various other offices around the world.
The move was hailed by business secretary Vince Cable.
He said: “Today’s announcement shows how well the industry continues to grow. With the right investment, skills and R&D, we will help it grow even more.
“I met some Rolls-Royce apprentices and graduates last week who all told me how much they enjoyed working in the sector so I’m sure these jobs will be highly sought after.”
