To work as part of the West Sussex County Council Transport Provision Team, based at one of the WSCC Depots, but with regular visits to other WSCC offices, schools and day centres, and school crossing sites to ensure that all Drivers/Escorts/School Crossing Patrols provide an efficient service.

This role consists of a split shift role over 44 weeks TTO. Hours of work are expected to be 7.30-9am & 2.30-4pm.

To assist with allocating Drivers, vehicles, Escorts and School crossing patrols in line with West Sussex County Council service commitments, in an effective, resource efficient manner, ensuring wherever possible that West Sussex meets its commitments to customers with regard to resources.

Primarily to supervise School crossing patrols allocated to the Transport Provision Team, as well as supporting colleagues in supervising Drivers & Escorts.

To ensure that each Driver/Escort/Crossing patrol is trained and working effectively, within guidelines of best practice, and health and safety regulations, and that they have adequate, appropriate equipment with them and are (where appropriate) wearing the correct uniform.

To ensure that the vehicles used to deliver passenger services are operating legally and fully utilised.

The role requires the post holder to be flexible and to manage a range of competing demands, both in the short and long term. This is a busy and varied role, which will give the successful applicant the opportunity to broaden their experience in many areas in a lively customer facing environment.
