The Programme Manager for Tobacco Control is a key position in the Public Health Department. Public Health is a progressive multi-disciplinary department committed to improving health and tackling inequalities in West Sussex and is the chief source of specialist public health advice and leadership to both the local government and the NHS across West Sussex. The Department’s key role is to “protect and improve lifelong health and wellbeing of everyone in West Sussex, by commissioning evidence based services and empowering people to make healthier choices."

We are seeking individuals who are passionate about improving the health of residents of West Sussex. You will lead on the specialist subject area of tobacco control in line with the national and local strategies, working with relevant colleagues from across a range of partnership agencies. You will be expected to drive implementation of and facilitate delivery of the West Sussex Operational plan for tobacco control. You will have a commissioning role for health improvement services for tobacco control and will contribute specialist subject area knowledge and expertise to the countywide action to improve health and reduce inequalities in health. You will also have excellent communication, interpersonal and project management skills.
