Part of West Sussex County Council, the Communities and Public Protection directorate wants to ensure people are more than just residents or employees, but members of safe, strong and resilient communities. The directorate brings together a range of skills, backgrounds and experience that we believe can help support our aim across the county. West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service is at the heart of the directorate and looking for talented people to fill current and future Watch Manager vacancies.

  • possess enthusiasm, drive and commitment to make a genuine differenceSuccessful completion of the selection process will see applicants placed in a pool for a period of 12 months, with initial appointments being made in November 2017. To be successful in your application you will need to provide evidence of the skills and qualifications detailed in the Role Profile, along with your ability to demonstrate the West Sussex County Council Values.Applications are welcome from substantive competent Wholetime Crew Managers. Applicants who were shortlisted for previous 2017 processes will not be required to submit an application form but should indicate their intention to enter this process by email
  • The process will consist of:
  • A key skills application and manager’s reference
  • Group discussion
  • In tray exercise
  • Presentation and interview

Please note that these vacancies are being advertised on behalf of West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service. They are open to serving operational fire service personnel both in WSFRS and other local authority fire services.

The closing date for receipt of applications and references will be the 16th October 2017.

The selection process will run from the 30th October until the 17th November 2017.

We are holding two workshop events, to provide further information about all stages of the process. The workshops will be held on the 29th September and the 4th October 2017 at Worthing Fire Station, BN14 7RN. Workshops will run from 09:00 – 12:00.
