Environmental Systems Research Fellow
The role of Environmental Systems Research Fellow is required to support the University''s responsibilities under the Channel Payment for Ecosystem Services (CPES) programme, funded through the EU INTERREG V programme. The University is leading this new €4 million EU project that will improve the water quality in a number of rivers and lakes in the South of England and the North of France. The project aims to reduce nutrient levels by implementing six pilot PES schemes across the Channel area. This is a real opportunity to influence policy and practice on effective catchment management of water resources in the EU.
The Research Fellow will be working with the academic team and be responsible for leading aspects of the research programme in support of the project. It is likely to suit someone with a background in environmental economics associated with and will focus on the development of sustainable business models. The nature of the research will be varied but is likely to include collection and analysis of economic data, environmental and social impact data for example. The researcher will also be required to contribute to the creation of effective catchment clusters and the production of a range of research outputs, some of which are expected to influence EU and local policy.
There will be opportunities to undertake teaching on postgraduate and undergraduate modules associated with environmental management and sustainability.
The ideal applicant will have a PhD in an appropriate subject area, for example; business, economics, environmental economics, economic geography, environmental management. Excellent research methods, presentation skills and experience are essential. Ideally you will have experience of working on research associated with water or land management.
You will need to demonstrate previous experience in the engagement in the delivery of high quality research and associated outputs involving socio economic impact analysis. Evidence of delivering high quality, effective and imaginative teaching is desirable.
This role is fixed term for 33 months.
