Lead Clinical Nurse - Chi/Perm/Care 2.9.10

Skills/Responsibilities

 

·         RGN/RMN Qualified - Grade E-F, pref with NVQ 4 and Registered Managers Award Qualification.

·         Recognised Qualification in Care for the Elderly and Promotion of Continence/and relevant experience in these fields. 

·         Recognised Qualification in Care of the Dying/and relevant experience.

·         Minimum of 4 years experience nursing experience; at least 1 of which includes care for older people.

 

To assist the general Manager in day to day running of home.  Plan, manage, direct and monitor the delivery of high quality care to all residents and strive for continuous improvement in the care delivered.

Maintain positive and friendly atmosphere in the home.

 

·         Help in assessing, admitting and planning all aspects of care/clinical needs of potential residents

·         Developing, implementing and regular updating of care plans and communicating with staff regarding updates/changes.  Accurate maintenance of care records and notes.

·         Communicating and liaising with family and all multi-disciplinary teams.

·         Supervise all clinical practice and care delivery and ensure that all nurses are aware of the NMC Code of Conduct and professional guidance.  Establish positive and good working relations with colleagues at all times.

·         Ensure that care is delivered to highest of standards in accordance with individual care plans, company policy and procedure and philosophy of care.  Make a difference to the lives of older people and maintain the friendly environment of the home.

·         Manage staff, recruit, induct, train, monitor, mentor, supervise and discipline of all staff in accordance with company policy and procedure and trained staff in accordance with the NMC code of conduct.  Hold regular staff meetings and prepare staff rotas in accordance with regulatory requirements.

·         Keep fully updated with all developments in clinical practice, education and training.  Communicate all updates to staff through planned training programmes.

·         Assist general Manager with all internal and external audits and quality control.

·         Ensure that all aspects of medication from receipt onto premises, administration, recording, return, etc are conducted according to NMC guidelines.

·         Ensure the resident's needs are met at all times and develop a close and trusting relationship with all residents and families.  Actively encourage the social care and wellbeing of residents.  To ensure that a full and appropriate activities schedule is in place to suit each resident.

·         Assist in the investigation of all complaints and grievances within the specified time frame and procedures of the company.

·         Maintain a good practical working knowledge of all policies and procedures of the company, including health & safety, Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults, environmental, Clinical, care standards act and standards and relevant regulations.
