The University of Chichester is seeking to appoint a new Governor to join its Board and take on the role of Chair of Audit. Are you a senior professional and would like to use your skills to contribute to an institution that believes education transforms people''s lives?

The mission of the University of Chichester is to provide outstanding education, advance knowledge and benefit the world. With a turnover of GBP 50m+ and campuses in Chichester and Bognor Regis, we offer programmes in teacher education, sport, the arts, humanities and social sciences. The University has also recently undertaken a major investment programme to create a new STEM based facility and courses. The University''s new Tech Park was officially opened on 3 October 2018 by Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex. We have a successful track record for widening participation from under-represented groups, impressive student retention and student satisfaction.

Members of the Board will be expected to contribute approximately ten days a year with a greater commitment from those taking office. The Audit Committee meets at least four times a year and assists the University Board in fulfilling its corporate governance and overseeing responsibilities in relation to the University''s financial reporting, internal control system, risk management system and internal and external audit functions.

We are seeking to appoint an individual with a strong personal commitment to higher education, who will assist in safeguarding best governance practice at the University. The individual must be suitably qualified with experience in at least one of the following areas - accountancy, financial management, audit or compliance.

The role is not remunerated, although reasonable expenses are reimbursed. The institution is committed to equality and diversity and hopes these roles will appeal to those from all sections of the community.

The University of Chichester welcomes applicants from BAME (Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic) backgrounds as they are currently under represented at this level.

Further details and an application form can be obtained from Sophie Egleton, University Secretary 01243 816051, s.egleton@chi.ac.uk

Interviews for shortlisted applicants will be held in April 2019, date to be confirmed.
