As one of our full time multi-skilled building team, you will provide a high quality, professional, cost effective repair/maintenance and planned improvement service based mainly at our Stockbridge Halls of Residence in Chichester.

You must be able to tackle and solve a range of trade based problems in a busy residential environment and complete all works to a high standard from start to finish in a timely manner, work within health and safety regulations and supervise on-site contractors.

This role will work independently of our main team so it's essential you're a good "all-rounder" and able to combine a wide range of technical skills in building maintenance, extensive trades experience and an organised, flexible, confident and proactive approach.

The post holder will use a high degree of initiative and autonomy to undertake general building works and repairs, including general building trades, minor plumbing works, internal and external painting, grounds/garden maintenance and decorating and other premises related tasks which may be outside of your core trade. A high level of customer service is required to our students, guests and staff and operates a "Don't Walk By" approach to ensure issues are dealt with quickly, safely and effectively.

Project work will require you to work alone or as part of the larger team, so it's important you can communicate effectively with a range of people on a daily basis by email, telephone or face to face.

Informal enquiries are welcomed by Gary Hook, Assistant Facilities Manager, via email at G.Hook@chi.ac.uk or telephone 01243 816265. This position will require a Disclosure and Barring Check (DBS) which will be undertaken by the University on appointment.

The University of Chichester welcomes applicants from BAME (Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic) backgrounds as they are currently under represented.

Interview Date: Friday 8 June 2018

The University offers you a 37-hour working week, Monday to Friday; access to a range of training and development opportunities; discounted Gym membership; Local Government Pension Scheme; 25 days' holiday (rising to 27 days' in your fifth year of service), Bank Holidays and University closure periods (e.g. between Christmas and the New Year).
