A vacancy has arisen for a Laboratory Technician to join the microbiological section of our small and busy contract laboratory in Chichester. Specialising in the testing of personal care and household products, the successful candidate will participate in the evaluation of samples for microbial content together with preservative efficacy and disinfectant/antimicrobial testing. A proportion of our work is also food based.

Applicants should possess a minimum of one A-level in a scientific discipline and previous laboratory experience would be advantageous. Full training in the test methods employed within the laboratory will be provided.

Salary: Negotiable, depending upon qualifications and experience

Key elements of the role include:

- preparing and maintaining equipment and materials for laboratory use
- preparing samples for testing
- conducting microbiological testing in accordance with in-house, client specified and standard methodologies
- recording results and accurately completing associated paperwork
- reporting results and problems to senior management
- working to, and assisting with, the maintenance of Good Laboratory Practice


Applicants must have:

- at least one A-level (or equivalent) in Biology or other scientific discipline
- a high degree of literacy/numeracy combined with good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a small dedicated team
- a flexible attitude to accommodating the varying demands of a successful small business
- a customer-focussed approach and commitment to providing the best possible service to all of our clients
- Previous experience in laboratory work, particularly in a GLP accredited environment would be advantageous.
