IT Technical Lead - Server Operations
We are currently seeking an IT Technical Lead - Server Operations, to join our IT Services team. The post holder will play a leading role in the management, operation, support and development of the University''s IT Infrastructure and services, and will assist the IT Technical Leader - Support Team, in ensuring a high class customer experience.
Working alongside IT colleagues the successful candidate will be responsible for managing IT projects from inception to implementation, acquiring, installing and configuring and maintaining the University''s server and switch infrastructure to deliver uninterrupted service for mission-critical applications and services. You will also work closely with the Network Administrator team to design and managed solutions to report ok KPI''s, and take ownership of systems problems and following through to successful resolution with our Service Delivery team.
This is a varied hands-on IT support role, full details of the key areas of responsibility are contained within the Job Profile. You will need experience in the delivery of excellent customer service levels and will have a high level of problem solving and analytical skills.
Applicants must be able to demonstrate significant knowledge and experience of supporting operating servers in a complex networking environment, in particular use of Ubuntu Linux, Microsoft Windows 2008 and onwards, VMWare and HyperV. You will need an ability to understand complex technical techniques and processes and explain these to less technical colleagues.
Previous experience of line management is essential and you must be a reliable team player, with an ability to take part in the on-call rota and able to undertake planned out of hours work as required.
