Project Support Officer – Broadband
Salary £24,174 - £26,822 per annum (£14,504 to £16,093 pro rata for the part time position)
Fixed term until end of June 2019 with possible extension, Full-time position and a part time position available
Based in Chichester
37 hours per week (part time position is 22.2 hours per week)

 WSCC is working in partnership with BT, Openreach and central government to invest in the infrastructure to make superfast fibre-based Broadband available to 95% of premises in the county, with the remaining ‘hardest to reach’ premises able to access speeds of at least 2 Mbps, by the end of 2017. This builds on the continuing commercial deployment of broadband and is in line with stated Government objectives for Broadband access in the UK.

Recently WSCC was pleased to confirm that it is going to push coverage even further into the county by using funding paid to the Council by BT as a result of careful management of the project and from gainshare arrangements. This will provide access to fibre broadband for several thousand extra premises countywide. This stage of the project is ambitious but we believe it is achievable by the end of 2018 and are recruiting to this key role to help us deliver this outcome for businesses and residents.

You will be part of the Better Connected project team and report to the Better Connected Project Delivery Manager, supporting them, the Assurance Manager and the Communications Manager to ensure coherent delivery of project management processes including all project governance and documentation. The Project Support Officer role will provide support in the delivery of projects. You will deliver a customer focused project management service, including provision of expertise and guidance on project related issues in support of the Future West Sussex Plan and corporate strategies. You will provide expert assistance with the delivery of this large project working closely with customers and partners to ensure efficient service provision.

You will be responsible for providing effective and efficient day to day support to the senior managers including, collating and analysing statistics for the on-going delivery of the project; monitoring and reporting on progress; planning and providing support to the stakeholders; collating of risks and issues.

You will be keep records up to date, provide detailed progress reports and ensure that all project, programme information is collected, maintained and archived.

You will arrange, organise and set up key stakeholder meetings, workshops etc. Communicate with and develop good working relationships with a range of people, such as residents, partners, suppliers, senior managers, and key contacts in order to provide project related information.

You should have knowledge of project management, sound and accurate IT knowledge and be comfortable with data analysis and good communication skills.
