The Marketing Communications and Access team are currently seeking a School and College Engagement Officer (STEM) to strengthen partnerships between higher education, further education, schools and training providers. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate flexibility and creativity and be dynamic in their approach to raising both the aspirations and attainments of young people from disadvantaged backgrounds who are currently under-represented in higher education.
The role involves devising, developing and maintaining a programme of hands-on STEM engagement activities for a range of audiences, contributing to the wider public engagement aims of the University.
The successful candidate will have a degree in a STEM related field, have knowledge of campaigns to increase the number of young people choosing to study STEM projects, and an appreciation of widening participation issues in deprived areas, including the requirements of learners.
Having an understanding of the 14-19 and Higher Education policy context, including the opportunities and constraints for Higher Education Institutions [HEIs] and holding a recognised teaching qualification at FE or secondary level are also desirable but are not essential.
The hours are full time and a flexibility in your hours is required as some evening and weekend work will be required.
Informal enquiries are welcomed by Helen McKenna-Aspell, Director of Marketing, Communications and Access
* Closing Date: 07 March 2017
