This is an interesting new post working within the Special Educational Needs Assessment Team (SENAT). Accountable to the Principal School Transport Officer in Education and Skills, you will have specialist knowledge and skills in respect of transport for children with special educational needs. Success in this post will require you to develop good relationships and work well with colleagues in both SENAT and the Transport Bureau.
As the successful applicant, you will:
• Keep under review the transport needs and eligibility of children and young people with special educational needs;
• Implement improvements in communication and information between SENAT and colleagues in the Transport Bureau who organise the day to day transport arrangements;
• Develop the Personal Transport Budget offer;
• Develop and champion independent travel training for parent carers and in schools and colleges;
• Develop and maintain improved data to assist with budgetary control;
• Implement improved communication and information for parent carers and the Transport Bureau.
We are looking for someone who has the ability to gather and analyse evidence, make sensible judgements and creative recommendations and solutions, taking account of clients’ needs and available resources. You will need to demonstrate that you can use your excellent communication and persuasive skills to achieve good outcomes for children and families.
