Hobbs Field is a residential home for 15 adults with learning disabilities. It is comprised of 2 separate houses, each having 8 bedrooms, lounge and kitchen areas and bathroom and laundry facilities, with office areas also in each of the buildings. We require a Night Support Worker to join our existing team of staff in providing good quality personalised care and support to the people that live here, thereby contributing to their health, safety and wellbeing. You will be required to remain awake throughout your 10 working hours of 9.45pm through to 7.45pm, or 10pm through to 8am. The opportunity to work extra hours will be optional, in order to cover the rota when your colleagues are off sick, taking annual leave or attending training. Your role responsibilities will include enabling and supporting customers with their eating and drinking, communication, various aspects of their personal and physical care, monitoring, recording, interpreting and storing confidential information, maintaining and developing a stimulating but safe environment and undertaking some household and laundry tasks on a regular basis. Good communication and interpersonal skills are essential. You will be required to keep up to date and compliant with relevant legislation and organisational policies and procedures. Periodically, you will be required to attend mandatory training events outside of your contractual hours, for which extra payments are made. You will also be supported with any developmental needs that you may have. Some basic IT skills would be an advantage, although training in this area can easily be provided, if required. Working hours of this post consist of 2 x 10 hour night shifts per week, according to a 4 week rota. Hours are 10pm to 8am on any Friday and Saturday nights and 9.45pm to 7.45am on any Sunday to Thursday nights. All applicants will need to have had previous working experience as a formal paid care worker. All Night Support Workers are required to remain awake for the duration of their shift. Night Support Workers are also required to undertake some domestic and laundry tasks at those times when their support is not required by any of the residents.
