At West Sussex County Council keeping the business running; being fully prepared to protect the health and welfare of the public in emergencies, and manage the long-term recovery of the environment and community affected is vital. Our Resilience & Emergencies Team is a combined team which supports all areas of the organisation including fire & rescue, public health, social care, education and infrastructure, to prepare for the variety of unusual challenges and incidents that affect our operations and the population of West Sussex.

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Assistant Head of Resilience & Emergencies, to join the team in achieving the highest standards in Emergency Planning, Business Continuity, and a number of new and exciting community preparedness initiatives.

You will also be involved in coordination of our response to incidents; as part of a 24/7 emergency response rota which attracts an additional payment.

You will have excellent people management, organisational and communication skills at all levels, and be able to apply these in a strategic multi-agency context. You will also have flexible approach to work, bringing innovative solutions, and ideas to enhance our resilience programme.
