PA Fire Systems is an independent, family run and owned fire alarms installation company with offices in Bognor Regis, West Sussex.

We are currently recruiting a Fire alarm & emergency light system engineer for the installation, repair, programming, commissioning and servicing of fire alarm and emergency light systems.

Specific fire alarm experience not essential, we will consider all/any electrical experience as well!

Must be keen and up for a new challenge!

 

Job Summary

Our firm is currently looking for a keen and self-motivated Fire Alarm Engineer to join our busy and growing team. The Fire Alarm Engineer will need to work on the installation and servicing of our client fire alarms as well as emergency lighting and smoke detector systems. The ideal candidate is hardworking, keen to learn, and a good problem solver and technically minded. This is a great opportunity to join a busy team that provides quality fire safety solutions to our wide variety of clients.

 

Responsibilities & Duties

  • To carry out fire alarm peripheral remedial works (door guards, remote lamp indicators etc)
  • To carry out all works to the current British standards
  • To carry out signage surveys and installation of signs
  • To carry out fault finding on fire alarm and emergency lighting equipment 
  • To be included on the on call engineers' rota
  • To have the ability to make judgment calls/decisions based on your experience within the industry
  • To survey and report on existing systems with recommendations for improvement
  • To deliver excellent customer service
  • To liaise with office staff to assist in day to day work and to resolve queries
  • To aid Examine systems to locate problems, such as loose connections or broken insulation.
  • Test backup batteries, keypad programming, sirens, and all security features in order to ensure proper functioning, and to diagnose malfunctions.
  • Mount and fasten control panels, door and window contacts, sensors, or video cameras and attach electrical and telephone wiring to connect components.
  • Install, maintain, or repair systems, alarm devices, or related equipment, following blueprints of electrical layouts and building plans.
  • Feed cables through access holes, roof spaces, and cavity walls to reach fixture outlets; then position and terminate cables, wires and strapping.
  • Inspect installation sites and study work orders, building plans, and installation manuals to determine materials requirements and installation procedures.
  • Adjust sensitivity of units, based on room structures and manufacturers' recommendations, using programming keypads.
  • Test and repair circuits and sensors, following wiring and system specifications.
  • Drill holes for wiring in wall studs, joists, ceilings, or floors.
  • Demonstrate systems for customers and explain details, such as the causes and consequences of false alarms.
  • Keep informed of new products and developments.

 

Qualifications & Skills

  • Fire Alarm Engineering / Electrical Engineering experience
  • Experience on site working
  • British Standard qualifications / knowledge
  • Able to problem solve and trouble shoot
  • To work independently and part of a team
  • Clean Driving License
