The County Fleet Workshops provide standard and performance led, risk assessed services that encourage safe, fair and honest environment in terms of standards, quality, quantity, safety, description and price. The workshop provides delegated enforcement, manufactures standards maintenance, advisory education and consultancy service for the benefit of the internal customers, thus ensuring the economic wellbeing of the community by the maintenance of a safe and fair vehicle environment for the mutual benefit of our customers and people of West Sussex.

You will carry out general mechanical repairs and preventative maintenance to all types of vehicles and plant belonging to West Sussex County Council including the Fire and Rescue Service. You will ensure that all repairs to these are carried out in accordance with any manufacturers or statutory requirements, frequency and timescales. Reporting to the Senior Engineer, the role requires an experienced light and LGV engineer to assist the recently created County Fleet Management Team in maintaining the County Fleet.

You will have experience of both cars and LGV's and it would be desirable to have some experience of equipment fitted to operational fire appliances.

You would also be expected to form part of the On Call service provided to the Fire and Rescue service which operates 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year.
