As Student Money Advisor you will assist and support students with financial, welfare benefits and budgeting issues relating to their transition into Higher Education and their subsequent progression through various study levels. Through supporting students' personal development and transferable skills, you will help to ensure they reach their academic potential and enhance employability upon graduation. With excellent communication skills and knowledge of financial assistance available to students, the post holder will provide a professional yet empathetic advice service to students and stakeholders (including current and prospective students, parents and other staff) on financial support entitlements. You will liaise with external bodies such as Student Finance England, Student Loans Company, local authorities and Citizens Advice Bureau to proactively resolve welfare matters and work with individual students to prepare personal budget plans and money management strategies. With a caseload of students, you will discuss eligibility for hardship funds and loans, administering the Access to Learning Fund in accordance with the institutions award criteria and best practice guidance. Presenting applications at panel meetings, you will recommend and justify the size of awards, notify students of the outcome and arrange payments. With an attention to detail and proven administrative and organisational skills in a busy environment, you will be self-motivated with strong interpersonal skills; empathic to the concerns of students and understanding of the importance of integrity and confidentiality.   You will work alongside and be supported by the Lead Student Money Advisor.
