Are you a self-motivated individual who can lead a programme of highway projects within West Sussex?

This is an exciting time to join West Sussex particularly in delivering the highway improvement priorities of the communities from across the county. The role will see you take overall responsibility for the programme management, co-ordination and delivery of programmes of highway schemes across the West Sussex network.

You will be responsible for a small project team and will be directly involved in many significant highway schemes across the county, providing management support to infrastructure schemes identified within our Integrated Works Programme. The schemes typically range from minor junction improvements, to traffic calming and cycling schemes, to town centre public realm schemes. Moreover, the role provides the opportunity to help shape, develop and influence the prioritisation of forthcoming programmes of highway schemes, working with our Members and stakeholders from across the service and delivering a customer focused service.

You will ensure that programmes of highway schemes are delivered via consulting engineers/staff to agreed deadlines and to agreed specifications. You will liaise with external and internal partners, stakeholders and communities about scheme development and will co-ordinate public consultations when appropriate.

Our schemes are implemented through our term-contractor and you will work closely with them to ensure schemes are delivered to programme and in accordance with the NEC3 contract.
