We’re after a top class Account Executive to perform a press officer role in our news busy team and if you’ve answered yes to those questions, we’re probably after you. West Sussex County Council delivers 80% of local government services to a population of more than 800,000 people. We’re right on the south coast in one of the most beautiful parts of the country. We’ve got a huge agenda to deliver and we’re committed to making a difference to the lives of the residents we serve. We’re looking for someone who will: • Be the first point of contact for all media enquiries • Advise officers, the senior leadership team, Cabinet and Councillors on media issues • Write media statements, news releases and briefings for print, broadcast and digital media • Arrange media events and visits • Organise media interviews • Work in partnership with partner communications colleagues across the county. To join us, you’ll need: • A good knowledge of media sectors • A good understanding of effective media relations techniques • High quality written and verbal communications • The ability to work well with journalists • The ability to learn fast and absorb lots of information • Experience in piggy backing on the news agenda • An understanding of modern digital communications techniques and the use of social media channels. • The ability to manage a busy workload with changing priorities Alongside considerable experience in a similar role, you’ll need plenty of ambition and the talent to shape the news agenda on some of the highest profile issues in government.
