Here at West Sussex County Council we have a clear vision for our county which sets out what we want to achieve with our residents. We want to ensure residents, families and communities have the right support in place to enable them to confidently prepare for later life so they can live independently for as long as possible and remain economically active for longer. We are investing in our Adults’ Social Care Services to support our priorities and in preparation for new responsibilities under the Care Act which start to become effective from April 2015. To help us develop and grow our service, we are looking to recruit motivated and experienced individuals to a number of social care roles. We are also willing to consider enthusiastic newly qualified applicants, who are keen to learn and wish to start their career with West Sussex County Council. As a qualified social worker, registered with HCPC, you will need strong interpersonal and organisational skills. You will need to travel independently across the county to meet with individuals and carers to assess needs, formulate outcomes and undertake reviews using a person-centred approach designed to provide meaningful choice and promote wellbeing. You must be able to work autonomously, prioritise your work and respond flexibly to competing demands. As part of your community role you will be required to undertake a periodic placement working for Adults’ CarePoint2, the countywide team who screen and triage referrals for adults to determine customer eligibility for an adult service. This requires working in Horsham for the duration of the placement. If you think you have the right values for our organisation, you will be supported by a programme of continuous training and development including supervision and management support to help you fulfil the role. We also offer an attractive benefits package including a childcare voucher scheme, flexible working and Local Government Pension Scheme.
