The Project Editor (FTC) within the Major Reference Works (MRW) team will have responsibility for a number of MRWs in both the Natural Science and Social Science and Humanities (SSH) programmes. Whilst the exact duties will vary depending upon the programme the title falls into, the Project Editor will be responsible for ensuring that each MRW publishes both to schedule and to budget. The Project Editor will also be responsible for guiding the work of both internal Assistants and external freelance Project Managers, and for ensuring that information about the status of each project is circulated to team members as required.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing products within schedule and budget
  • Regular and accurate reporting on projects as required
  • Developing and agreeing appropriate workflows for projects
  • Preparing detailed documentation at all relevant stages of projects
  • Prioritising work across a number of projects
  • Managing relationships both internal and external

 

Selection Criteria

  • Previous Project Editor experience would be an advantage.

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent.

  • The ability to work effectively and collaboratively in teams as well as cross functionally.

  • Effective communication skills both oral and written with the ability to communicate effectively through a variety of mediums (electronic, phone, face to face).

  • Must be self-motivated with the ability to manage own work and that of the team.

  • Excellent time and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects in an organised and methodical manner.

  • Competent and efficient in Microsoft Office including Outlook, PowerPoint, Word and Excel.
