The University of Chichester is keen to recruit Associate Lecturers with particular expertise in the Sociology of Sport and Football Coaching for fixed term hourly-paid teaching from September 2014 to May 2015. The successful applicants will assist in the delivery of modules on undergraduate degree programmes in the Department of Sport Development and Management. The modules to be delivered are: Introduction to Sport and Society; Developing Player Performance in Football; and Principles and Practices of Coach Development in Football. The successful applicants will be required to prepare and deliver teaching sessions, undertake module administration such as maintaining registers and completing module evaluations, and mark assignments for the module. 

Introduction to Sport and Society (Semester 1 only, approx. 20 hours)

  • Be capable of delivering teaching content related to the Social Cultural analysis of sport.
  • Be able to engage level 4 undergraduate students within a supportive seminar based learning environment.

Developing Player Performance in Football (Semester 1, approx. 40 hours)

  • Be capable of delivering excellent football coaching sessions to level 4 undergraduate students.
  • Be qualified to UEFA B licence standards
  • Playing experience in the professional and national league system.
  • Have knowledge of academy systems in both the professional game and further education
  • Principles and Practices of Coach Development in Football (Semester 2, approx. 48 hours)

Be capable of delivering excellent football coaching sessions to level undergraduate students.

  • Be qualified to UEFA B licence standards
  • Playing experience in the professional and national league system.
  • Have knowledge of academy systems in both the professional game and further education.
  • Experience of delivering coach education programmes in an educational environment
  • Qualified to postgraduate level in a relevant Sport related subject, or with a relevant undergraduate qualification and workplace experience, you will demonstrate excellent teaching and communication skills and the ability to work using your own initiative and meet deadlines.

For the coaching related positions applicants will be expected to hold a national governing body coaching qualification at level 3 or above and/or a qualification in sport coaching.
