The Information Security Officer role will make a significant contribute to the delivery of West Sussex County Council’s vision of new ways of working and achieving value for money from IT investments. In particular, the Information Security Officer will help realise business benefits from Information Technology for the whole organisation through the development and implementation of effective and innovative policies and plans. The role is a key point of liaison with the IT Outsource provider and other third parties for all aspects of information security.

You will play a central role in ensuring that the WSCC response to risks and issues associated with Information Security meet new and emerging customer requirements and that technical accreditations (such as PSN) are maintained. The role establishes and manages information security compliance and ensures that changes in technology, information handling and working practices align with policy, strategy and direction for managing and governing information security best practice. (Note: West Sussex County Council has adopted ISO:27000 based Information Security practices).

You will also play an active part in the WSCC Information Security Management Group, Information Security Forum, development of policy and act as a subject matter expert to resolve security incidents and problems, including providing advice, guidance and direction to ensure that impact of incidents is minimised.
